How To Attract What You Want Into Your Life

“I attract good people.”

I remember writing it down a year ago: West Coast Tour. I envisioned a different way of getting here, a different cast of characters, and a different direction in my personal and professional life.

But I made it. Here.

To a place that has me feeling energized, inspired, and limitless.

When the plane took off from Toronto, I had no idea what to expect. I was off on an adventure, one I have lovingly given the aforementioned tour name, that included two years of missed travel packed into less than 20 days: Vancouver, Whistler, Los Angeles, and San Diego. It was to be a mix of work, fun, and play.

The trip kicked off with this mantra from my favourite weekly horoscope:

“I attract good people.”

My first instinct: are you sure?

After all, it had been a long time since I’d had the opportunity to meet new people, to make new friends.

But from the moment I stepped off the plane and into my first social scenario, something clicked. I could feel movement and momentum towards connecting with others flow through me. I felt more myself then I have for a long time. It was the opposite of how I’d felt a couple of months prior when the stress and anxiety of traveling had left my soul divided. In this case, my body and soul had traveled together, and as a result, this girl was on fire.

My reflection went a little like this:

Me: I don’t know what’s going on here, but I’m feeling really good… in my spirit I feel full.

Mom: Wonderful! Maybe it’s just YOU!!!

Was it the power of the cosmos or could it be the work I’m doing that caused the stars to align? Am I attracting exactly what I want, what I’ve been asking for? Am I showing up in a way that is making my life easier, and as a result happier?

It’s amazing how much more we enjoy the world around us when we are aligned in who we are and what we want. It helps to provide clarity in our energy and builds momentum towards where we want to go. The universe has the power to return to you tenfold what you put in.

Like attracts like.

And it doesn’t just apply to people. I’ve been attracting conversation, creativity, opportunity, adventure, and abundance. We are limitless in what we can attract and invite into our lives.

But, how do we do it?

By building and bringing a higher sense of self-awareness to each and everyday.

Keep your sacred space for you

Your heart, your soul, your spirit, whatever you choose to name it, is meant to be clear of the people, places, and things we interact with everyday. Check in and see who and what is too close, and create space whether physically or energetically. Whether through journaling or taking a few deep breaths, the practice of checking in and clearing your sacred space is powerful.

Be in alignment with Self

There’s a reason why meditation continues to be central to my daily practice, and a popular topic among many coaches. It allows us to keep our mind, body, and soul in alignment and show up as our true selves. It allows others to feel comfortable and at ease in our presence, and our energy becomes palpable attracting others to us.

Notice how you are showing up

With the above in mind, be aware of how you’re showing up. Are you standing in your truth when you are with others? Are you present? Are you standing in your Self? Spoiler alert: whether they know it or not, others can tell when you’re faking it.

You are your thoughts

Our thoughts create our reality and you have the ability to determine your destiny. Create distance between your circumstances, your job, your title, and who you are.

I AM, YOU ARE.

Use this mantra to keep connected to your true Self rather than everything outside of you. After all, attracting what you want begins within.
